How to practise speaking tasks

Do not speak too fast. Aim for clear pronunciation, natural rhythm and a steady response. Practise with a timer and review recordings to notice pauses, unclear sounds and repeated hesitation.

  • Read aloud in meaningful phrases, not word by word
  • For repeat sentence, listen for meaning groups and key words
  • For describe image, use a simple structure and avoid long silence
  • Record short answers and compare clarity over time
  • Practise with mock tasks before a full timed test

Next step

Students who struggle with pronunciation or fluency should combine spoken English practice with PTE task drills and trainer feedback.
